Hello and welcome to the Rutland School District webpage! We're happy that you've taken the opportunity to check things out and certainly welcome any questions that you may have about our school and/or the programs that we offer. My name is Brian Brosnahan and am very proud to help lead the Rutland Team! I was hired on as the Pk-12 principal in 2017 and can't express how wonderful the students, staff, and community members are that make the Rutland School District their home! We take pride in stressing "respect - responsibility - results - integrity" with all of our students, and work hard to lead by exhibiting these traits in our daily interactions with them (and each other). If you have further questions or would like to reach us, for any reason, please call the school at 605-586-4352.
Mr. Brosnahan's Bio:
I live in Sioux Falls with my wife Jen (works for Sanford), my 14 year old son Alex, 11 year old daughter Emory, and 7 year old son Gavin. When we have free time we like to be outdoors, camping, hunting, spending time with grandparents, or vacationing (when possible).
My professional career in the field of education began in the fall of 2006. My family and I lived in Davenport, FL (about 20 minutes SW of Walt Disney World), and I was fortunate to begin my career teaching high school Biology Honors and Anatomy/Physiology Honors at Haines City High School. After three years at Haines City High, my wife and I decided to move our family back to the Midwest (where we both grew up) to be closer to our kid's grandmas/grandpas. After a long search, we chose Sioux Falls as our new home. In the fall of 2009 I was hired as the new high school science teacher in the Colman-Egan School District. There I taught high school physical science, physics, chemistry, biology, and anatomy/physiology. In 2010 I started to work on my masters degree in administration and finished this degree in the spring of 2012. At about this same time (April of 2012), I was hired on as the middle school dean of students and 6th grade math teacher for the Canton School District. I was fortunate to work in the Canton School District for 5 great years before having the privilege of being offered the Pk-12 principalship here in Rutland. I'm very thankful for the schools and coworkers from which I've had the opportunity to learn from, and look forward to continuing that here in Rutland. Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns, I'm happy to talk to about your child's education and work with you and my staff, in partnership, to help make strong educational decisions for your child(ren). Thank you for entrusting them with us for this huge task!
