Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports

Rutland School District has adopted a behavior modification model called called Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS). You can find further information about the program at:

The students and I are creating videos to demonstrate appropriate behavior in the classroom, school and at school related activities. Topics addressed range from the 6 Character Counts Pillars to acceptable behaviors in the hallways, lunchrooms, bathrooms, and playground.

PBIS Respect
Our first video of the year was done by the 2nd & 3rd graders with some narration by some of the 5th graders. Students modeled the behavioral expectation that they respect themselves, the school, all staff and each other at all times.

Manners Rap
The 6th graders wrote and produced our next PBIS video to model appropriate behavior in the lunchroom. They focused on the manners each student is expected to use during the lunch hour.

Playground Rules
Playground rules must change when the weather begins to get colder and the snow begins to fall. The Kindergarten and 1st graders took the time to model the behavior that is expected during the winter months.

Rutland Bus Safety
In honor of National Bus Safety week the 6th graders put together a video to demonstrate the Rutland Bus Safety rules and regulations. Great job 6th grade!!
